& Solutions
!
Problem
Meal planning felt like a chore. Users struggled to log food quickly, understand their nutrition, and stick to habits — so most abandoned tracking within the first week.
✦
Solution 1
A clean calorie dashboard with visual macro rings, day-based navigation, and one-tap re-logging of frequent meals — clarity first.
✦
Solution 2
AI meal-scan, voice and barcode logging cut manual entry, while Gogo the habit coach turns tracking into a daily streak worth keeping.

Calorie-counting guilt
A meal-first dashboard
Today’s meals lead the screen; the calorie ring and macro bars inform without scolding. You open Gekko to decide dinner — not to see how far behind you are.

PROBLEM
“What do I eat this week?”
A plan you can steer
A weekly day-strip and per-meal cards with a one-tap Replace. When Wednesday goes sideways, the plan flexes instead of breaking.
S3
PROBLEM
Missing-ingredient drop-off
A grocery list that writes itself
The plan builds a categorized weekly list — Fruits & Veggies, Cheese, Eggs — with quantities and calories. The ingredients are already there when it’s time to cook.

S4
PROBLEM
Nutrition illiteracy
Ingredient-level nutrition, searchable
A food database with verified per-100g macros and clear colour-coded bars — green carbs, orange protein, yellow fat. Add what you eat in a tap, and understand it at a glance.
S5
PROBLEM
“I don’t have that”
Recipes with swaps
Each recipe carries an Ingredients / Replacement tab that offers substitutes. A missing avocado becomes a choice, not a reason to order takeout.

WHAT IT CHANGED FOR MEERA
She stopped planning meals she’d never cook. Sunday’s plan showed up as Wednesday’s dinner — because the groceries were already on the list, and a missing avocado just meant a swap, not takeout.
REFLECTION
What I’d carry into the next one.
What I learned
1
Nutrition is a logistics problem
People don’t fail at willpower. They fail at groceries.
2
Reduce guilt, raise adherence
Leading with meals instead of a deficit changed how the whole app felt.
3
Localize or lose them
“Not my food” is the fastest way to lose a user in nutrition.
What’s next
1
Plans that learn
Adapt from what actually got cooked, not just what was planned.
2
Pantry sync
The grocery list subtracts what you already own.
3
Budget mode
Plan around cost, not only calories.
Track less.
Live more.
